Who this is for02

Built for the buyer, not the buzzword.

You'll get value if you're…

  • An owner, COO, or operations lead at a 20-250 person Pittsburgh business
  • Sick of vendor demos that look great in PowerPoint and never ship
  • Trying to decide whether AI fits your business in the next 90 days
  • Already running a Pittsburgh-area law firm, healthcare practice, CPA shop, manufacturer, or insurance agency
  • Considering a $25K–$150K AI investment and want a decision framework before vendor calls

Probably skip this if…

  • You're a Fortune 500 enterprise (you have a team that does this work for you)
  • You're a software engineer looking for ML implementation details
  • You need a primer on what "machine learning" means at the math level
  • You're already mid-deployment with a vendor — too late for screening
  • You think the answer is "just buy the most expensive tool" — the playbook will frustrate you
What's it actually like03

A sample paragraph from section 2.

"As of 2026 a $4,000 desktop with one consumer GPU runs an 8B–14B-parameter open model fast enough for customer-support, document-search, and basic-drafting workloads in a 20-50 employee office. This was not true two years ago. It matters because the operating cost of an on-prem deployment for a 50-person firm is typically $200-$600 per month of electricity and maintenance, vs. $2,000-$8,000 per month of equivalent cloud API calls. The break-even moves fast."

The whole playbook is like that. Specific numbers. Real trade-offs. Names of Pittsburgh vendors, real ethics opinion citations, real cost data from current client projects.

Marc Shade

Founder · 2 Acre Studios · Pittsburgh

Marc has been shipping software for businesses since 1997 — Fortune 500 clients, Pittsburgh contractors, education companies, software startups. 2 Acre Studios is the consulting practice he runs now, focused on tech work for Pittsburgh small and mid-sized businesses.

This playbook is his. Not ghost-written, not AI-generated, not pulled from someone else's framework. Every page is what Marc actually says to clients on a Foundation retainer or a Deep Discovery engagement, distilled into a form a busy operator can read in an evening.

Common questions05

What you might be wondering.

How is this different from the free guides on the site?

The free guides (Local LLM hardware, RAG vs fine-tuning, Ollama vs vLLM) are technical primers. The playbook is the operator's manual — screening test, readiness assessment, decision tree, vendor scorecard, risk register, rollout template. It's the stuff a Pittsburgh business owner needs to make the call, not the stuff their CTO needs to do the build.

Can I share it with my team?

Yes, for internal use at your company. The license is "single reader and internal company use." Don't post it on the public internet, don't sell it, don't distribute outside your organization. If you want to share it with a peer at another company, send them the link to this page — that's the right thing for everyone.

Is there a refund policy?

If you read the playbook and don't think it was worth $49, email [email protected] within 30 days and we'll refund you. We expect that to happen rarely; the playbook is dense and useful and we'd rather make it free than refund unhappy buyers, but the policy is real.

What does the free 30-minute call get me?

A real conversation with Marc about your specific situation. If after reading the playbook you have a "but our case is different…" moment, the call is to work through that. No pitch deck, no sales tactics, no junior staff. Book at calendly.com/marc-shade/one-on-one.

Will this be updated?

This is v1.0, released 2026-05-12. We expect to release minor updates as the regulatory and vendor landscape shifts (likely every 4–6 months). Buyers of v1.0 get v1.x updates free — drop us an email and we'll send the new edition. Major version bumps (v2.0+) may be a separate purchase.

What payment methods do you accept?

Checkout is via Stripe, which accepts all major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Cash App Pay in the US. Card data never touches our servers.

Is the PDF formatted for printing?

Yes — letter size, generous margins, real typography (Georgia for body, Helvetica for labels). It's designed to be read on a tablet or printed. No watermark on your name, no DRM, no expiring license.

What if the download link doesn't work after purchase?

Email [email protected] with your Stripe receipt and Marc will email the PDF directly within a business day.

One PDF. $49. Read it tonight.

If it changes how you think about even one AI decision over the next 90 days, you'll have made the money back many times over.
